| The following year she campaigned strongly for a “Yes”
vote in the Devolution Referendum, and became the SNP’s Spokesperson
on Arts, Culture and Gaelic. She did not stand for the Scottish
Parliament, having been asked by the Party Leader to run for the
European Parliament instead. She resigned her lectureship at Strathclyde
University in order to concentrate on the European Election –
and was again pipped to the post, this time by a tiny percentage.
However, she has no regrets - remains convinced of the vital importance
to Scotland of full independence. Scotland must run her own affairs:
administering an annual grant from Westminster will never be enough.
Above all, Scotland must take her place as a nation among nations
– in Europe, in the world. |
